The Liszt Institute – Hungarian Culture Centre in London
Sárospatak is a picturesque historic town in northeastern Hungary, nestled along the Bodrog River in the Tokaj wine region. Often called the “Athens of the Bodrog,” it’s renowned for its cultural heritage, baroque charm, and the grand Rákóczi Castle, a symbol of Hungarian history and education.
Our collaborative partner in Sárospatak is the Ferenc Farkas Music School, which continues this tradition of learning and artistry. Named after the celebrated Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas, the school serves as a vibrant center for young musicians, offering training in classical and folk music, instrumental performance, and theory. With its deep roots in Hungary’s musical legacy, the school nurtures creativity and community, enriching the cultural life of Sárospatak and the surrounding region.
Their involvement is supported by the London-based Liszt Institute, dedicated to promoting Hungarian arts and culture through diverse and innovative programming. Located at Trafalgar Square, it regularly collaborates with British cultural institutions to foster intercultural exchange.
