Köln 6 July 2026 Odonien
Odonien, Pirate and Tim Schumacher
Odonien is the largest socio-cultural venue of Cologne’s independent scene. Here, an open-air atelier, a club, a cultural center, an event space and a workshop merge into a unique and inspiring environment. Surrounded by monumental sculptures, absurd installations, unusual found objects and lush planting, the Odonian Sculpture Park forms the heart of Odonien open-air season. Here there is space for new encounters, celebrating together, eating and drinking – an urban idyll without constraints and dependencies, a think tank and a modern agora with industrial charm.
PIRATE is a family of companies rooted in Cologne that grew out of a simple idea: that business and tech should feel more human. They are best known for the PIRATE Summit, a gathering they hosted for over a decade at Odonien. It became a global home for people who valued “no-BS” connections and a bit of a rebel spirit, famously marked by the burning of a wooden ship each year. While the PIRATE family has grown well beyond its original summit, the soul of what they do remains the same. Through PIRATEx, they focus on the “art of the encounter” – creating spaces where titles and status are left at the door so real conversation can happen. For the Cologne stop of Treeline, they are returning to their home turf to help curate a moment that bridges their digital roots with a deep appreciation for art, nature, and honest human connection.
Tim Schumacher is a Cologne-based internet entrepreneur and investor. After co-founding Sedo.com, the world’s largest domain marketplace, he has focused on building and backing mission-driven tech ventures such as Eyeo (Adblock Plus), Ecosia.org, and the climate VC World Fund. Tim supports projects that blend innovation with positive environmental and social impact and is delighted to contribute to Treeline’s Köln edition.
