On 7 September we had a fabulous workshop led by Tom Boughton and Yve Woodhouse to our selected tree. A Common Beech Tree with a trunk girth of 4.9 metres.

Epping Forest
Covering 6,000 acres and stretching 13 miles from east London into Essex, Epping Forest is an internationally important wood-pasture landscape. Two-thirds of the Forest is designated as a Special Area of Conservation and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Epping Forest is home to over 50,000 ancient and veteran trees, the most of any single site in Britain. This includes over 20,000 beech pollards, over 80% of the UK’s ancient beech population. Epping Forest is surrounded by a further 2,000 acres of Buffer Land, acquired to further protect its boundaries. The forest is cared for by the Epping Forest Charity, supported by the City of London Corporation.
